Member Privacy Policy
Colorado United Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of our members’ financial records consistent with federal and state laws. In the course of providing services to you, we collect information about you. Our privacy principals were established to maintain the security and confidentiality of that personal and financial information. We maintain strong security controls to safeguard the privacy and accuracy of communications and transactions to protect our members’ confidentiality. The following Policy is to inform you of our Privacy Policy.

Policy on the Collection, Use & Sharing of Personal Information
Colorado United Credit Union has one policy that applies to all members of the credit union. Having one Privacy Policy makes it easy to understand and convenient for members to make informed decisions about the management of personal information.

Our Policy applies to all personal and financial information that is obtained by Colorado United Credit Union in connection with providing a member with a financial product or service for personal, family, household or business purposes. Our Policy will continue during the course of our relationship with you as well as after our relationship has ended.

How We Collect Personal Information
We routinely collect and retain the information we obtain from your account applications, loan applications, transaction history (for deposits, loans, credit cards, etc.) and consumer reporting agencies. All information is collected in person, through the mail or through our website.

The Type of Information We Collect
To establish and administer your accounts, we ask for personally identifying information not only to offer available credit union products and services, but also to protect your account from fraud. Information collected may include, but is not limited to, credit history, birth date, social security number, employment, salary, etc.

To satisfy certain regulatory requirements, when a member opens an account that pays interest, we are required by the Internal Revenue Service to obtain your Social Security number and/or have proper documentation filled out.

To better understand your financial needs, so that we may provide you with additional or improved products and services we require a credit history, employment and salary along with information on assets when determining loan approval.

How We Keep Information Secure
Maintaining the privacy of your financial information is one of our highest priorities. Our employees are educated about the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. This priority is emphasized by the internal employee Code of Conduct, this Privacy Policy, and the contracts and agreements that we sign with external suppliers and partners. Employees who violate our policies and procedures regarding privacy are subject to disciplinary action, and our suppliers and partners are bound to uphold our procedures regarding privacy under the terms of our legal contract with them. We safeguard all information by regularly assessing policies and procedures to better improve our commitment to our members against unauthorized access to personal information.

Furthermore, we limit access to personal information to those employees who need to know that information in order to provide products and services to you, our member. We maintain physical, electronic and personal information. These security standards and procedures are routinely tested to verify the integrity of our systems.

Information Sharing Outside of Colorado United Credit Union
We may share personal information about our members with companies that we are required to work with to complete the credit union’s business (credit bureau, insurance, etc.) All of these companies must be under contract with Colorado United Credit Union and have privacy policies that do not allow them to use information for any other purpose but to complete the credit union’s business. We will use encrypted information whenever possible.

We do not share or sell information to other companies for any other purposes other than those directly involving the credit union’s business (or its related subsidiary or business partners.) We do not share information for the purposes of marketing other than the credit union’s promoted programs, related programs or products.

Other Information Sharing
We may share personal information about you with companies or organizations outside of the credit union as required or permitted by law. For example, we may share personal information to: (1) protect against fraud, (2) respond to a subpoena, (3) service your account and (4) with companies that perform services for the credit union. We may share personal information about you with companies or organizations outside of the credit union as required or permitted by law.

Your Responsibility to Protect Yourself
While Colorado United Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, there are certain things that you should do that will help. In order to protect transmission of your information sent through email, messages should be sent through our secure server through our online banking services or through any of our contact us sections of our website. All passwords and PIN information should be kept confidential and in a separate location away from your computer, wallet or any card. Please use caution when disclosing any account numbers, social security numbers or other information to persons if someone calls you. As a safeguard, no Colorado United Credit Union employee will ever call you to verify account numbers, social security numbers, or any other personal or financial information.

Opt Out Policy
Colorado United Credit Union takes your privacy very seriously. As such, we do not sell your personal or financial information to anyone. Therefore, it is not necessary to contact the credit union regarding an opt out provision.
